Meet Dr. Katy Barrs

Dr. Barrs has a passion for working with survivors of trauma and individuals experiencing a variety of life stressors, including grief/loss, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, relationship stressors, stage of life changes, PTSD/complex trauma and medical problems. She has extensive experience working with Veterans, Service Members and First Responders along with their family members. With 20 years of experience as a therapist/psychological assessor, ten years as a professor, and 15 years as a clinical supervisor, she provides an open and collaborative space for her clients, students, and colleagues to grow and thrive.

Works as an Associate Clinical Professor at the Graduate School of Professional Psychology, specializing in clinical supervision, psychological assessment, trauma recovery, suicide prevention and military psychology.

Denver Vet Center

Served on an interdisciplinary behavioral health treatment team working with combat Veterans, survivors of military sexual trauma, and family members of active-duty Service Members. Served as the Military Sexual Trauma Treatment Coordinator. 

Minneapolis V.A. Medical Center

Served as a staff psychologist on two treatment teams (the Severe Mental Illness Team and the Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Team) working with Veterans with a variety of mental health diagnoses, life challenges and presenting problems.  

Boston Consortium in Clinical Psychology

Served as a clinical psychology intern with Boston Medical Center and the V.A. Boston Healthcare system, working in an inpatient unit, substance abuse residential program, PTSD clinic, and child mental health clinic. Worked as a Clinical Fellow affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Barrs lives in Denver, Colorado with her family. She loves hiking around the many trails of Colorado with her Golden Retriever. She also enjoys yoga, pilates, attending live music, reading, and engaging in community advocacy.
